I’m about to discover if a 1070 in a laptop consuming a few watts only is effectively equivalent to the central heating and air conditioning version in a desktop.
Hopefully last obstacle (cudnn versions not matching) shortly solved, then discovery .....

Eventually solved the cudnn problem, which was entirely caused by me trying to be too clever.
Well, not got the PC desktops here for direct comparison, but lower power consumption Laptop looks to be about the same speed for when the GPUs are loaded and busy. Which surprises me a bit, I assumed there’ld be some compromises on speed for squashing the hardware to actual physical laptop sizes.
