There is a small evaluation "flaw" in Winboard 4.8. The evaluation nodes displayed show a 'G', instead of 'B'.

That's not a flaw, G represents "giga" for billion under the metric system. It just so happens that M is used for both "mega" and million, hence your misinterpretation that it is flawed.

I figured it was something like that. I thought Xboard / Winboard was American at it's roots.

That is very ancient history, and not much from that time has survived.
