OICS Torrent, dropping Nalimov

Post by jshriver »

There seems to be minimal desire for these. I can't keep seeding them so dropping.

I will keep up 3-4-5, but the 6 men seems obsolete as most people "should" have migrated to sygyzy.

Plus (and I'm grateful) there is always http://tablebase.sesse.net/ which has amazing bandwidth and up for years.

Nalimov does have some bugs - which I really didn't notice until the past year and they are so much high bigger - plus most people really just want one egtb and they want the egtb that is used by the strongest engine - Nalimov is dead , just like cd, gloppy drives etc. Sure there people still using those, but the growth is negative - Ronald really did a great job in giving us syzygy - very much appreciated here..

It should not be forgotten that there are also the Gaviota EGTBs, a free alternative to Nalimov which already exists for years, especially useful for those who prefer the DTM (distance to mate) metrics over DTZ (distance to zeroing).
