Hi all
I know a chess engine is just a program .It compute tons of numbers, nothing else.
But , programmers , what kind of "relationship" do you have with your engine?
Just a silly question for the fun ;-)
(Testers and others are welcome too)

"Platonic" might be a safe answer for most here...

A project in what I want to keep working to that helps me understand some things about myself. Also is very satisfactory to understand many things about something to be able to help others. Also to work on some complicated fields and to learn a different type of programming. And also is a bit of exhibitionism showing ability to do complex things :-) but this is more a consequence, not an objective.

It is interesting to find out, how far one can go without copying foreign sources, when trying to realize a view based data structure using merely achromatic pieces.

I like the moments when I see my engine display an illusion of will, illusion of plan or, failing that, at least interesting idiosyncrasies. Strength is actually the mean to achieve this goal (if an engine is weak, it gets pushed around and cannot present what it is capable of).
