Thanks Martin. I am trying to figure out this unpredictable behavior because on a 5 minute search on the position it doesn't hang here. But you are absolutely right about one thing. The smp split depth = 4 is way too low! I was able to get twice the nps by increasing to 8. No wonder Scorpio's nps was almost half of the other participants in the previous edition. So please increase it to 8 on my behalf. That should also help to hide the problem to some extent because at the current setting about 10% splits are wasted which is too much. I will continue to reproduce the problem and fix it but until then please use 8 and see if it passes the TCEC margin for stability by playing some games . I will do my best to fix it.

Hi Daniel,

I raised the split depth to 8 now and started another test match against Toga. In game 10 the same problem happened again, while games 1-9 ran without problems.

I have emailed you the log files of game 10.
