All mighty expensive spot to host ICGA.
Who is sponsoring it?

The announcement email also says:
We will be able to offer limited travel support for participants who really need such support. Full information about this travel support will be made available shortly, when the rules for the Chess events and the Olympiad are announced.

I refer to which organisation in Japan pays the 50k euro 'organisation costs' (the reason no university in USA can organize it as their administration can't have a post like this - but that's a different discussion) of the ICGA and organizes the event?
Which organisation pays for this expensive 7+ days event?

Wonderful news! Better late than never.
Any chance that the authors of these top engines would take a vacation in beautiful Yokohama next summer?
* Houdini
* Critter
* Stockfish
* Bouquet
* Komodo
* Equinox
* Naum
* Chiron
* Hiarcs
* Fritz
* Junior (current champion)
* Spike
* Shredder
* Pandix
* Rondo (née Zappa)
* Spark
* Sjeng
* Thinker
* Hannibal
Of these, only Junior, Hiarcs, Shredder and Pandix came last year, so anyone could be a winner! The ante will be to bring a 16-core SMP system, similar to the one Houdini used to beat the Rybka cluster.

Any chance you could update the 2011 WCCC site with the games and crosstables?

It would be interesting but a lot expensive. I hope that organization can provide economical support for travel and/or for hotel and so on. I know that Japan is not a cheap country. I think that a partecipation could cost not less than 2000 euros (800 for travel from Italy, plus hotel, dinner, launch etc.). Of course one should have a strong program, not my Satana engine, to spend so many money!

Without Rybka and Houdini, just to mention two engines, it won't be much of a world championship. But still worth following as is any competitive event no matter what the engines.

Well, you should see getting there as part of the challenge. Anyone can write a pogram that plays good moves. Not much honor in that. The hard part, which defines a champion, is making it to the start, and last to the finish!
I will certainly go there. Of course I won't register for the WCCC, but that is mainly because I will be too busy with other, more exciting stuff. But weakness of my program never deterred me. Even with a very strong program your winning chances would be almost zero, so why should that deter you? The fun of being there is well worth the expense.
