UCI and Linux

Post by Sargon »

Hi

What are my options (if any) to play human-engine and engine-engine matches under Linux and the UCI protocol?

Sargon

PS. Apart from xboard+polyglot :)

Shredder has a native GUI:

With virtualization (Wine) you can run also Arena or other Windows programs.

I think it would only be good for engine/human matches, and then one game at a time

xboard + polyglot + PSWBTM !

PSWBTM at http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gtg365v/PSWBTM/ makes it incredibly simple to have various kinds of tournaments automated.

On Pradu'site there is only a windows compile but Pradu explicitly states that the sources should lead to easy Unix compiling.

Having used this fine little piece of software for months I can say it near perfectly meets all my requirements for a testing software.

Moreover Pradu is very reactive when possible additional features are mentioned.

Hehe, they arn't that easy to compile but hopefully in the future I'll make it easy. 8-) I'll try to get a pre-built binary going for Linux this weekend.

Oh, that wold be great! :) I stumbled over this tool already but based on the screenshots thought it's only available for Windows. Good to hear that's not the case. :)

Thanks for the hint! One of the few commercial engines that support Linux. I guess I will support that too. :) (I better not ask Christoph whether a Linux version of CT will be ready in the near future... ;)

By the way Pradu i think there is a tiny annoying bug that you could correct altogether.

Whenever a tournament finishes here it seems that the "standing" and "details" tabs are not updated with the result of the last (final) game of the tournament. It would be nice to have this corrected : I like the idea of "cutting-pasting" the text of these two tabs to keep a record of tournamment parameters and results (OK I am a bit lazzy).

Another idea. It could be nice to have an option which offers the possibility to replay all games who aborted during a tournament (those who finished with a "*" result) so that the tournament would be really "complete".

In most tournaments i organise I have three or four such unfinished games out of 256 planned games.

Did you ever have a look at tourney-manager of HolgerRuekdeschel?

http://www.hoicher.de/hoichess/tourney_ ... index.html

For UCI you still need polyglot but apart from that its comfortable for me.
