Hi Graham,

OliThink has been demoted to Division 6. This is because of a weak performance in Division 5.

In Division 6 there are waiting a couple of old sparring partners. All of them are easily defeated in training rounds.
But, it won't be that easy in the Amateur Series for some reason, yet unknown.

In any case I envy you for living in New Zealand in those times. I have been there in February 2020, but had to return to Europe..

Hi Oliver,

if you could provide an ini file or config file for OliThink, it would make it much easier to set options like hash size, tablebases path and cache size (if applicable), number of threads (if applicable), etc.

The Amateur Series (Divisions 2-8) are currently run on my i5, which has popcount, but not bmi2.

I use OliThink as a winboard engine (no wb2uci adaptors).

Hi Graham
OliThink runs with 128 MB Hashtable out-of-the-box and there is no noteworthy gain with more hash.

The number of threads is exactly 1 (it's only possible with winboard protocol). So if other engines use more threads, this would be a perfect explanation for some differences in performance.

This is fine.
Probably the main explanation are the number of threads. How many threads do you allow per engine?

PS: I didn't know that other engines in this division use multi-threading... amazing.

All are only using 1 core in my Amateur Series.
