ok thx,
now most likely 7.Qc2 will follow but
as usual i'll take my time (until maybe tomorrow or so)

To illustrate how weak the engines were, at least
before Nnue time, i remember when 7.Ne5 was
suggested by (top) engines, but this leads to a draw
(opposite bishops). your system as it's now probably
also would see now 7.Qc2 as best for White. 8-)
(then again after 7...a6, (most) engines couldn't see
what's better, 8.Qxc4 or 8.a4 (it's the latter).
Ask a certain GM Avrukh, for example..

ok it's 7.Qc2 indeed

PS and now it will probably be 7...a6
but i'l wait, no hurry here :)

PS2 as for Avrukh, (GM repertoire 1A with the Catalan)
again, who has his birthday today btw (becoming 43),
congrats Boris :D
He recommended 10.Bf4 in the line we have entered (with
a novelty Rfd1 which nowadays is not a novelty anymore),
but i'll probably go for 10.Bg5 and may find a new novelty,
interesting or not (maybe not so much because it's a whole
positional complex and it will become a bit of maneuvering
trying to get a higher positional advantage...Meanwhile
Boris can start to draft another update of his book again,
GM repertoire 1B or so
8-)

ok, now 8.a4

now i expect 6...Bd7 as in theory, although
the Chinese database also gives 6...c5!?.

PS still a rather positive mood here, although i now must admit 10.Bg5
doesn't lead to anything, so most likely 10.Bf4! and then we'll see.
In the next ten moves we then will get a novelty, either for Black or White,

Interesting btw imho to see how opening theory will change (or let's say further evolve (*) ) in the 1.d4 lines (*) as result of the better Nnue evals, my g3 move
was correct, otherwise the Ragozin with Bb4 seems to lead to equality. (*)
for the 1.e4 lines we knew this already from the LK 'new repertoire'.
:)
(*) as such, we could regard correspondence chess as some sort of collective opening analysis, although the competitive element at the highest levels
becomes a bit ridiculous indeed because of the faster comps/Nnue engines.

You can remain confident in your machine so far MonteCarlo

Code: Select all

                     Whites Edge Win Draw Loss
Starting Position 53.6% 35.6% 36.1% 28.3%
After Blacks move 5	53.1% 31.2% 43.7% 25.1%
After Blacks move 9 52.9% 30.4% 44.9% 24.7% (135 million node directed search)

yeah mr bb, he may have a hybrid system Lc0 on GPU
and Nnue on the cpu's, dunno.

Anyway, my next move is 10.Bf4!
although lot''s of engines may choose for 10.Bg5.

Even after this awesome move, It's not going to be easy, in the
Avrukh book (GM repertoire 1 A) he recommended a novelty 13.Rd1 (*),
which is not a novelty anymore. And it was not a good 'novelty' because
after 13...h6 Black already seems to equalize. Some Gm's already found
out because in GM play it's superseded by the better move 13.Bd2,
which better statistics. Still then, it's probably hard to win
against a strong engine. we'll see (meanwhile i see a lot of different
evals by different strong engines, and this still indicates
we're not yet at the end of (computer) chess knowledge..

(*) if you play 12...Na6, ot also it maybe 12...h6 we'll see.
