Hi Graham,

I follow ...
I am really happy if my long time tourney ended and I can start to test all the new engines.

Do you know from which country is Mr. Bob.
I am looking for a view days for more information about the programmer but can't find it.

Best
Frank

The message around Cheng4 (new compile from Günther) make an impact.
I know from older messages from yourself that you like the program a lot too.

Dear Graham! For several years, I keep admiring your nice tournaments and all that great job you contantly do for the computer chess society! Finally, I was inspired to register here myself and to begin sharing results of my tournaments and tests with other people. Now I am going to include Cheng 4.39 and 4.40-dev versions to my current tourney. On this issue, I have a question to you: what does ''dev2'' in the name of Cheng 4.40 mean? Does it mean that there exists a ''dev1'' version that is not the same as ''dev2''? At the moment, I have only one Cheng 4.40-dev version that I downloaded from the Guenther's page. Am I missing something?
Incredibly fast systems miscount incredibly fast.

that's just an internal name, it's the same version that Guenther compiled, except it's a VS2017 build.
note: this is not an official release
also the improvements are modest (if any)

BTW Martin do you have changed the numbering scheme after Cheng4 0.38?
Previously Cheng4 was the engine name and the digits beginning with zero named the version.

Same applied for Cheng3 versions according to Leos recording during my absence.

yes, historically ChengN with different N was a full rewrite/different engine and 0.38 was a minor version
however, this was confusing to many so with 4.39 I decided to simplify this and to change
to Cheng 4.39, which I find easier to understand, so this should be read 4.40 dev
sorry for the confusion
