Komodo vs Jeremy Kane knight odds
I am at the annual chess.com get-together, in Cancun Mexico. One of the chess.com coaches, Jeremy Kane, is here too and has agreed to play Komodo (MCTS) at knight odds on chess.com today, planned for 3 pm Eastern Time. Although he doesn't have a FIDE title, he is a rather strong player, USCF rating 2384, chess.com blitz rating 2600. Roughly a class stronger than Larry Gilden, who lost his knight odds match to Komodo 6 to 0. He is a full-time chess pro for chess.com, age 30, and especially good at blitz. We didn't decide details yet. It is possible other strong players may play as well. There are two or three GMs here (besides me). So look for games today (and perhaps also tomorrow) on chess.com by "playkomodo". Jeremy Kane is "coachjkane". I think Jeremy may be too strong for knight odds, depending on the time limit; if we wins too easily we might try the next smaller handicap, probably f7 + c7, which is the largest of all the two pawn handicaps except f7 + g7.

Re: Komodo vs Jeremy Kane knight odds
Komodo MCTS (Contempt 150, 16 core i9) played two games with Jeremy Kane today at knight odds at 10' + 5". Both games ended in draws. In the first game he retained his extra piece but got so tied up that he couldn't do better than repeat. In the second game Komodo got an attack and he made one mistake in defense, that allowed Komodo to win back much of the material but the resultant endgame was still much better for the human but complex enough that both sides settled for a repetition. I'll try to post games when I can. Probably more games tomorrow, either with the same opponent or perhaps with an Indian IM, Rakesh.

So Komodo get two draw with knight odds against a player rated 2600 on chess.com. Very impressive.

Re: Komodo vs Jeremy Kane knight odds
Second game, 14...f6! would have been much better, to meet 14.Qxg6? by 14...Qxh3!. The final position was still winning for Black, but given the time remaining and strength gap he understandably settled for repetition, and Komodo's 150 Contempt was not enough to make it avoid the repetition here, since Contempt fades away in the endgame.
