Mark
I got rule 2 here.

Code: Select all

2.	Each program must be the original work of the entering developers, possibly with the inclusion of game playing code and/or data from other sources for which the entering developers have a legal right of use. Developers whose code is derived from or includes (1) game-playing code; and/or (2) data written by others, must name (a) all the other developers of whom they are aware; and (b) the source of such code and/or data, in their tournament registration details.

Programs which are discovered to be undeclared derivatives of others may be designated invalid by the Tournament Director if he is convinced, after seeking advice if he feels that to be necessary, that the closeness of derivation is of such a level as to constitute unfair competition. A listing and an executable version of all game-related code and data running on the system must be available on demand to the Tournament Director prior to the start of and during the tournament. The Tournament Director has the right to submit the executable version of a program for testing for similarity with other known programs, and/or to submit the listing to an expert or experts of his choosing for examination, also to determine similarity. Under all circumstances the Tournament Director will take all reasonable steps to ensure that any such listing and/or executable are treated as being strictly confidential.

The entering developers must keep a copy of the source code of their entry until at least one year following the date of conclusion of the tournament, in order to be able to respond accurately to any questions about the source code that might be raised after the event by the Tournament Director.

My original post was:
If Stockfish 6 will not be present the "Championships" will be meaningless.
How can a competition that claims to be the "World Championships" even consider itself as such without the number one engine on most rating lists there. Is the winner really the Champ??? Of course not!

I should run a tournament and not include the top ten engines on rating lists.
Run several rounds over a couple - few weeks and then when the number 11 engine on rating lists wins, I can then proclaim it as "World Champion", but is it?

It is not the problem of the organizer if the alleged number one engine does not participate. They are actually welcome to participate. It is not fair to declare the alleged number one as the world champion in their tournament without participating.
ICGA is not an ordinary organization.

So,
When Mike Tyson was the Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion of the World let's say that all the contenders decide to go to Europe and fight each other, they invite Mike, but he does not show up.
The winner in Europe declares himself the 'World Champ"...is he?

PS. It doesn't matter whether they were invited and declined, the title has no meaning or value without that "alledged" participant.
They need to change that false and misleading name of the psuedo "World Championship"

You have already put there that MT is the UWHC. But even then if that tournament in Europe is a world championships sanctioned by a legal body, the winner there is the world champ.

The SF team does not participate in the "ICGA World Championship" by their own choosing and so sadly SF will not be "ICGA World Champion". Big deal. Perhaps next year SF will become "TCEC World Champion". All this is obvious and should not even be worth a post here.

But why this thread is used as a pretext to launch a childish OT attack on the Komodo team comparing them to people who believe the earth is flat, is totally beyond me.

Ideas=science. Simplification=engineering.
Without ideas there is nothing to simplify.
