ACCC_2014_Alphabetical Tournament_Letter H

Post by Charly »

Hi all,

This little double RR test at 1+2 saw without surprise the victory of Houdini. Behind, there were a lot of new engines (for me !).

A good surprise are Hannibal 1.4b and also Hakkapeliitta who fought like brave "Mousquetaires" .

Hakkapelitaa crushes Houdini 4 in 24 moves, see game N°100 in thePGN !

Hussar 0.4 is suffering for many time losses but is playing interesting games !

The cross table and the pgn zipped are available :

Thank you very much for your tournaments.

In CCRL 40/4 complete list (date: August 2, 2014), I find Hakkapeliitta 1.0 x64 with a rating of 2517 ± 19; OTOH, Houdini 4 has a rating of 3233 ± 13.5 (more less). This is an Elo difference of circa 716 ± 23.3 with 95% confidence! It means that Houdini 4 should win more than 98% of the points against Hakkapeliitta 1.0... Hakkapeliitta won the lottery this time. :P

Here are some analysis of Houdini (the evals are from the side to move, not from white's POV):

Hello Jesus,

First of all, thank you for the comments regarding the tournaments :D

Many thanks for your analysis : I knew that a gain against Houdini is a precious point !

It is obvious for an human player that the Blacks are completly wrong, playing here in the queenside, while the White prepares a good attack. Houdini (or else) is blind in this situation, and above all in a 1+2 game !

The move Nd5 is pretty nice !

Here is an analysis made by SF 5 (30 s/move) (sorry, in french for the pieces, and I "badly" translated the comments) :

Anyway, this was a VERY poisoned pawn, in this Sicilian variation !! I'm happy to see some good tactics from Hakkapeliitaa.

Maybe the position is a bit tricky for engines but is interesting for further matches !!
