Stockfish_0308 vs Komodo5.1MP and Houdini 3

Post by beram »

Well it looks like the latest Stockfish 0308 really surpasses Komodo 5.1MP
I had this on my system: AMD X6 1090T 3200 Mhz

Code: Select all

Bram Testsuite 2.0 - 50 games, TC 4m 2s, each engine 4CPU, ponder off

Stockfish 030813 64 SSE4.2 - Houdini 3 x64 23.0 - 27.0 +13/=20/-17 46.00%
Stockfish 030813 64 SSE4.2 - Komodo 5.1r2 64-bit 29.0 - 21.0 +15/=28/-7 58.00%

Code: Select all

Noomentestsuite 2012, 60 games, TC 4m 2s, each engine 4CPU, ponder off

1 Stockfish 030813 64 SSE4.2 +17/=34/-9 56.67% 34.0/60
2 Komodo 5.1r2 64-bit +9/=34/-17 43.33% 26.0/60

Code: Select all

Noomentestsuite 2012, 60 games, TC 4m+2s, 4CPU, ponder off

1 Houdini 3 x64 +18/=31/-11 55.83% 33.5/60
2 Stockfish 030813 64 SSE4.2 +11/=31/-18 44.17% 26.5/60

so in total I got this with ELOstat

Code: Select all

Program Score % Av.Op. Elo + - Draws

  1 Houdini 3 x64 : 60.5/110 55.0 3004 3039 48 48 46.4 %
  2 Stockfish 030813 64 SSE4.2 : 112.5/220 51.1 2996 3004 32 32 51.4 %
  3 Komodo 5.1r2 64-bit : 47.0/110 42.7 3004 2953 43 43 56.4 %
Individual statistics:

Code: Select all

If Stock_2907 is better than Stock_2707 some 7 elos (according to Pohl), I do not know what to expect from Stock_0508 (if there is such a version).
7 elos in 2 days, 3 elos per day (and some 0.15 elo per hour), that means that Stcok will be N1 in about 20 days :)

I am now running a new match with same privat testsuite both 4CPU but now with TC 20m 10s
Stockfish 0308 - Komodo 5.1r2 after 22 of 50 games: +5 =13 -4

Thank you for this new time control test.
I think you will find that Stockfish 100813 is even stronger! :P

Re: Stockfish_0308 vs Komodo5.1MP ..game examples

Post by beram »

Stockfish won two times a position from both sides of the board. SF seems to be more aggressively playing for initiative.
Strong point of Komodo (as been known) is his more solid, positionally style and his ability to play good with unbalanced pieces, though not always as can be seen in the first game example.

Hereby two games by the opponents
A black win by SF in a Sicilian B90 where it won with both white as in this case with black.
On move 14 ..Rxc3!? SF played the thematic rook sac searching for counter chances. It is very daring in this position and I found just one example of it in chessbase online

A nice won game by Komodo is this Sicilian 2. c3 , After early queen exchange Komodo with white plays straightforward to an almost won position.
Especially 14 f4 ! (opening up with the two bishops) and breakmove 20 b5 is of my liking
