Rybka's magic settings...I think I 've found them

Post by jix »

Time Controls: 3/2
Hardware: Q9550 @ 4.4
Tablebases: 3/4/5
PB: Off

This is the 2nd tournament I've run with these settings, the first of which had a slightly higher score. Some of the games Rybka was down as much as 2.00 but would some how end up going into endgame equal or winning!

If anyone is interested in the games I will upload them

Code: Select all

1 Deep Rybka 4 x64 +54/=37/-9	72.50% 72.5/100
2 Houdini 1.01 x64 4_CPU +9/=37/-54	27.50% 27.5/100

Which ones? He has two. Seriously, though, just share it. I'm actually running time management testing for that time control, and will share anything I find once I have data to corroborate. The defaults are quite bad for this TC BTW.

If this puts Rybka 4 greatly stronger in elo etc. than the best programs or clones of now, in THEIR best known settings, and is good in different timings, then I'm ending my wait-and-see policy, and ordering it asap.

Thanks, I'll check it out. BTW, just so you know: In increment games the TC Buffer is ignored.
