I've been following this interesting game since the beginning. If I can participate, I'd choose the move Rfd8.
a4 is more active and tries to take the initiative, but I think we should move our rook first in order to control the d column.

Blacks plan with the move a5-a4 was to break up the
two pawns on the Q side as soon as we have the chance.
If Black allows White to play a2-a4 Black will miss that chance.
White may miss the a2 a4 move after Blacks Rfd8 move but
it may not.

After further analysis, I agree with you. After Rfd8 a4 e5 fxe5 Bxe5, although we have more space and our pieces are better coordinated, the position is even. a4 is a chance to get a little advantage, so I change my vote to a4
