I vote for Nf6 in this position.....

I agree with Nf6, more dynamic than e6, and if e5 then Nd5 of course.

I like 2. ... c5, 2. ... e6 and even 2. ... e5 here. I like c5 because it hinders d4. I like e5 for the same reasons, it also prevents the e5 pawn advance by white, but I don't like giving up control of d5 to white. Since we are already down a pawn, I will vote for the safe 2. ... e6. I don't like the 2. ... Nf6 plan because white continues his development with e5 and d4, which are free tempos he seems to get from black. White is already a pawn up why give him free tempos as well?

My vote is 2. ... e6.

People post their analysis, and if using a computer aide cite that. Most people who vote end up reading through the thread, and going along with whatever the most convincing analysis is, rather than doing much of their own. Of course, you guys can run things however you want. I have only seen this type of thing once, and have no idea how it is "normally" done.

It's not the end of the world if ALL options are open. There are not TOO many legal moves in a position anyway.
Later on, most opinions will probably be computer checked by those who vote them, and they will often comment on their reasoning.
(But I don't personally object if it is broken down and semi digested by experts first, But I don't think it is necesary).

Nf6, e5, Nd5, Nxd5, Bxd5, c4 is exactly why I vote against Nf6. It immediately
gives up the initiative and helps white develop pawns with tempo.

So, I suggest c5.

OK so we have a tie between c5 and Nf6. We have until tomorrow anyway.

If it's between 2. ... Nf6 and 2. ... c5

Then I vote 2. ... c5!

the time control for the Hiarcs Game will always be 48 hours from the last time a move is posted
so the time control is always fluctuating and changing
i now have 24 hours to move from your posted move time just now
as Captain you made the right decision to switch your vote to make the time control
well done
