Trying to build a competitive book under Arena is pure masochism.

Trivia..
Can you name one commercial program with a bad book?
Hiarcs 9 maybe....?
Exactly, George. I think the Hiarcs 9 book has to be one of the worst ever.

Also, the Junior 9 book is quite poor. For example, it forces Junior 9 into some poor variations, such as weak sub-variants of the Four Pawns Attack versus the King's Indian, and then...it simply stops. What's the point of forcing your engine into an oddball line without providing it with lots of theory to exploit this position? It does the same thing with variants of the Saemisch Attack versus the Nimzo. As a result, Junior 9 scores poorly versus both the KI and the Nimzo in my tests.

Conversely, the best commercial book I've seen is Jeroen Noomen's Rybka book. It's a great pity Rybka can't use that for its SSDF tests.

All the best,
Steve
