Hans Niemann

Post by jdart »

I had not heard recent news about him, since the lawsuit was filed. I looked up his FIDE record, and saw he has played no rated games in the past three months. I think the last event he was in was the World Blitz in December 2022.

He is playing on the Open circuit. There’s a game of his on YouTube from yesterday, Epic Chess site.

It looks like he took a break but became active again in the last couple of days, winning two games today:

FIDE
The decision of the FIDE should actually be made shortly
https://www.fide.com/news/2249
On February 17, the Fair Play Commission (FPL) unanimously adopted the report on the Carlsen/Niemann incident drafted by the Panel tasked with investigating the case, composed of Klaus Deventer (chair), Vincent Geeraets and Salomeja Zaksaite.
On February 20, the 30-page report was forwarded to the Ethics and Disciplinary Commission (EDC) for further consideration.
EDC’s nominated panel will assess the FPL’s findings and reach a decision on the case within six weeks.
Pursuant to Art. 5 of the EDC Procedural Rules, until a decision is made, the contents of the Report shall be kept confidential to protect the procedure itself and all interested parties. Until then, no further comment on the matter shall be released by any FPL, EDC member, or any other FIDE official.

Tournaments
Hans Moke Niemann is currently participating in the Menorca Open

He will also compete in May at the Sharja Masters in the United Arab Emirates, a highly endowed and very strong Open.

The German chess magazine "Perlen vom Bodensee" reported three days ago about the "chess life" of Hans Niemanns since the scandal as follows:
(Translation from the YouTube Video)
With one accusation that Hans Moke Niemann makes to Magnus Carlsen he is certainly right, namely that all this dramat undermines his professional existence. Since the Carlsen/Niemann scandal broke out in September 2022, Niemann doesn't get any invitations anymore, is uninvited, or isn't invited to events where it was actually already foreseen that he would play. If he wants to play chess, he has to limit himself to official tournaments like the rapid chess and blitz world championships at the end of last year, or he has to play open tournaments because the organizers of round-robin tournaments didn't invite him.

All These Effects Were Quite Predictable...."Top Flight Chess and These 'Private Invites' is an Elite Private Club" And Mr Niemann with his pending Lawsuits & ongoing Battles with Magnus....Hikaru & Chess.com STL Chess Club FIDE US Chess & Others...Is No longer welcome in Their "Private Club"
Hans I would assume is likely going to receive a "Huge Payday" if he wins....So financially he will be "Set Up For life" & May no longer Care about continuing to Receive Those Invites...I would anticipate an Out Of Court Settlement...Time Will tell...Hans M. Niemann is still one of the Biggest & Famous (Infamous) Names in the History of Chess Lore.... :) 8-)

We are already past the 6 weeks, but there is still a little leeway, but it should be pretty clear-cut now so that right there in my opinion is a "yellow light" as to a true verdict. I could be wrong, but Hans has not been implicated with clear-cut evidence that he cheated or used some kind of unique assistance.

This official text soo reminds me of ICGA. But yes, "it should be made shortly" puts it nicely. But to be precise :D: they never said they'd ever PUBLISH their decision ... ( nor the 30 page report for that matter - but this part was a bit careless, as I am quite sure that the US court will demand to look at it later, so they should rather make something up in time ;) )

Chess.Com advertising recently for a new CEO should give you a clue.
