I'm not sure whether plenty of people can understand me.
You're right, a second one black Pawn can't have come to f4 legally.

Anyhow, it's some easier even as your second one from today, not for engines, but for humans, at least for those who saw some of O.Blathy's other great puzzles before regards
:)
If you see the youtube video it was composed by an engineer, NOT originated from a real game, but to address your question even if you remove the f4 pawn it makes it a little bit easier, but without the triangulation method of moving the White King around and eventually forcing the Black pieces to fall one by one, unless the engine is programmed to execute the triangulation method it will NOT solve this puzzle even without the f4 pawn removed. But if the Engine has the triangulation method programmed, without the f4 pawn it will be solved in less than 98 moves or close to it, starting with Rook to d4, and after f4! simply take the d2 pawn

But the two black rooks!!!
Ok, ok, second f-pawn theoretically possible, second black rook yet can't have jumped over black- coloured Bishop, that can't have been moved with e- and g- pawn on first rank, h-pawn at second.

Sorry, but as I wrote, output comes with full hash after fome Forward- Backward, DTM wouldn't have arisen soon (maybe not even a proving output- line at all) otherwise probably, didn't wait long enough to find out.
But anyhow this one's much easier for engines than April 1st's one, much less unforced lines and Zugzwang- maneuvres much less deep (plies away from knot- positions).
BTW, did you publicise this one or April 1st's one already in any journal or competition?

Even if I'm not a judge, at least first one's might have good chances for a good award regards
April 1st's one was improved from a composition composed by Uri Blass, and this one is improved from a composition composed by my friend K. So ...?

One of my original puzzle is here: viewtopic.php?t=74856
Reprinted to Talkchess by Pafifi. It's easy for today's engines but I still think it's very fine.

Sorry without the f4 pawn, White can NOT checkmate the Black King because of Ka7 and the White Rook will have to continue checking the Black King forcing the three fold repetition

And my question is, are there any compositions like this, 16vKR or just 16v2?

Best.

Ignacio
confirmed...Chest in autoturbo-mode sees mate in 123 in 17 sec here as well (Ryzen 3600? :-) )

btw, is Gustav publicly available or still commercial...if available for free, any link?
thx in advance

thx Hobacle for your nice puzzle :-)

im sry to pollute your thread but i made a mistake in my post above...i came to the same conclusion as Ignacio did but without having read his post...so i didnt dare to use the default settings and tryed it with the special-mode and took Peters (and mine) analysis to get the right settings...i thought that autoturbo-mode would ignore my settings but it doesnt obviously....so for those who want to confirm our results here are the correct settings i used:

ChestUCI-settings:

HashSize: 2048
ProblemType: Mate
SearchDepth: 123
SearchMode: Special (or autoturbo, lol)
ChecksOnly: 0
ThreatDeath: 3
ThreatRange: 3
KingSquares: 3
PieceLimit: 2
MaxMoves: 14

everything else on default
sry again to those who were probably irritated that they cant reproduce our results

What engines solve this position in less than 8 moves
[d]1RR3Q1/8/5p2/4p3/P3B3/5ppp/4prqk/K3Nbrn w - - 1 1

Let us analyze this curious position. Black’s pieces are completely locked up in the corner, but they form a strong fortress against which White cannot break through, at least not in time. Here’s a try sequence that Stockfish finds almost instantaneously, where White launches a successful assault on h3 – 1.Qe6 f5 2.Bxf5 e4 3.Rh8 e3 4.Bxh3 Qxh3 5.Rxh3+ Bxh3 6.Rh8 Rxe1 7.Qxh3+ Kg1 8.Qxh1, but the mate is one move too slow! As one might expect, the actual solution requires a more subtle approach. White’s plan is to deploy the knight to execute a smothered mate on g4, but the piece cannot begin its three-move trip immediately because 1…e1=Q would unleash the black force against the white king. Rather, White must start with four preparatory moves designed to protect the king, so that the knight trip becomes safe to play. If White shifts the bishop as part of this fore-plan, Black’s e5- and f6-pawns will be forced by zugzwang to march forward two steps each, conveniently unguarding the three squares that the knight The correct fore-plan sees all four white line-pieces making attractive long-range moves to cover the king, which stays on its
initial square. Notice how White’s move order is neatly forced, as these line-pieces must avoid interfering with each other. 1.Rc1! f5 2.Bc2! e4 3.Rb2! f4 4.Qb3! e3 5.Nd3 e1=Q; now that the coordinated white army has forestalled checks by Black’s promoted queen, f2-rook, and f1-bishop, 6.Ne5 is viable and Black cannot prevent 7.Ng4.
