Why so few is to be answered probably with the nature of the very big imbalance, meaning the positions are at least very unrealistic by nature (if not even illegal as we saw already too in the other one example) and to get tricky solutions out of such positions many of the figures have to be blocked or only there to get sacrificed. There aren't many thematic varieties except Desparado- figures and or cyclic maneuvres, both making the ways to find the solutions for humans easier, not for engines, but who really cares for that with studies and problems composed for human responsive (and educated ) audience?
That's why I was so shocked by your 0401- puzzle, that BTW doesn't have so much in common with the one from Uri Blass, that you say it to be built around, as far as I'm concerned. Simply give credit to Uri Blass as the one who came along with the idea first and up into contest with the piece!

I simply didn't think at first glance "April's Fool"- puzzle would be really correct, the more than one kind of triangle including many plies within the maneuvre, that you have to find and apply in versatility to Black's answers, makes it difficulter to solve and much more difficult to prove correct as for my personal pov yet still.

Imagine that I'm an alien. On my planet, the popular chess game is not chess, we call it "choss". People here also like composing compositions, but they see it as an art. They make Black Boss fly over the chossboard in a graceful curve, or make a Black Cleaner chase the White Boss for over 100 moves. A friend of mine is deeply attracted by the art of composing compositions, but he doesn't like to play choss. He likes the chess from the Earth, so he wants to compose artistic chess compositions. However, he was killed by gangsters before he succeeded. As his friend, I had to carry on his legacy, so I came to the Earth to communicate with fans of chess compositions, but I found that only a few people here have the same views on compositions as ours.

Obviously you're not as easy to be satisfied as others are with things like art and beauty, dear Chess(Choss)-Desperado.


That's a bliss and a curse as well of course.
You have to look for the extraordinary always and from its nature that's not as easy to be found.

On the other hand you're at least able to realize it, when you find it, you get to know the exceptional and rare, that others don't even recognize as such.
Be solaced that your game of choss is only for the brave and the faithful, play it with those who understand and enjoy, if not always over the ordinary and small chess board, than maybe in fine art and music and poetry as well.

Being a solitairy Black Rook or a last Knight fighting against windmills, you'll always have heaven besides this disdainful world to share with Miguel de Cervantes and others, at least Schiller wrote so for Poet's sake once too:

People here like chess puzzles. I guess the big problem for me was what is a puzzle 'like this'?
Same chessmen?
King in a corner with one friendly rook on the board?
Such constructions with a queen instead of rook are much more common.
Given enough information, we can probably find such things with a CQL query, or even SQL.

If I understood what exactly you were after, I think I could have been more helpful.
Without mechanical help from the computer and without a detailed description, it is unlikely for me to dredge such things up from my brain.
