EU Club Cup game

Post by jdart »

The EU Club Cup qualifers are happening, and the first round has some super-GMs paired against weaker players.
This is what happens when you have to play Shirov. He offered a Queen sac on move 11, which was declined, but taking it loses, too.

Certainly, when a 1852 Elo player (rating of today) meets a 2662 Elo player (rating of today), no less than 810 Elo difference {ca. 99.06% of scoring for the stronger player according to Elo formula 1/[1 + 10^(-810/400)]}.

I searched games starting with the sequence of moves of this game. The most I achieved are the following games:

Tuzhik, Artem (2313) 1-0 Efimov, Nikita (2209); 2008-03-18: ch-Siberia (round 6), Novokuznetsk (RUS). Followed until 8.- ..., dxe5.

Shredder Chess Opening Database: a black win in 25 moves dating back from 1968, followed until 9.- hxg6.

Žilin - Koskin, SSSR 1963 (thanks to the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings, Volume B, © 1975). Followed until 9.- hxg6. (That game went 9.- ..., hxg6; 10.- fxe5, c5; 11.- Rh4, Bxf3; 12.- Qxf3, Nc6 ∓).
