SPCC: Web-Host hit by a fire

Post by pohl4711 »

Sadly, the web-host company Beepworld was hit by a fire (OHV Cloud) in France:

At the moment, it is not clear, if and when my website (www.sp-cc.de) will be online again. Sorry for these inconveniences.

Hi Stefan,

that's bad!!

If you like I can send you the passwords from my site.
So you can add your site on a subdomain from my site for the time your website isn't available.

Best

Thank you. But I hope. this will not be necessary.
Next week, Beepworld will get the information, if the hosted websites can be restored from backup or not.
If not, I have to build a complete new site, using a new web-host company. Otherwise, my website should go online again in some weeks.

At the moment, my work on my new Unbalanced Human Openings V3.0 is coming to the end.
When it is done, I am thinking about complete new test-setups for the future, using these openings.
So, this fire-crash of my website is perhaps an opportunity for a new start from scratch...

But your offer is appreciated! Thanx again.

That might run into difficulties with Google with a slap for duplicate content, or wrong search hits once Stefan's site goes back online.

Always have also a local backup of all data. A backup that isn't under your control is not a backup.

The version-numbers (180622 for example) of the engines are the date of the latest patch, which was included in the Stockfish sourcecode, not the release-date of the engine-file. Especially the asmFish-engines are often released much later!!

Below you find a diagram of the progress of Stockfish in my tests since August 2020.

And below that diagram, the older diagrams.

Stefan, very sorry to hear this news. I visit your site quite often.

There are archived copies of www.sp-cc.de on archive.org. The latest snapshot was February 16, 2021.

https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.sp-cc.de/

Unfortunately, none of the download links seem to be working for me.

Hi Stefan,

good luck with your new book idea and your site.
It's important that strong sites are online!

To Ras:
That's right, not thinking about it.
I don't know how Norm Pollock solved the problem with the mirror sites (Google wrong search hits).
For some years Norm added his site on a subdomain on my site (mirror).

Best

Thanx, I will backup some texts from my site, if I need to rebuild it from scratch...

Translation by google:
Parts of the data center are currently being restored. A list of the rooms affected by the fire gives hope that the backup copies will be stored in an intact room. These sections will be put back into operation on Monday, March 15th, 2021. We can then check whether the backup copies are intact. If everything is okay with this, we will immediately start restoring the customer websites.

So, fingers crossed, that my website will go online in some days/weeks.
But be sure, the testings continue (and the work on my Unbalanced Human Openings 3.0 and the remastering of my other (older) openings-set, too). As soon, the site is back online, I will update it.
