The Twelve Days of Christmas this year...

Post by MikeB »

will bring a Special Edition of Honey featuring a net based on Beth Harmon, a fictional character in the highly touted Queen Gambit min series,
The net is courtesy of our good friend Dietrich Kappe of course, and naturally the release will feature the appropriate ascii art eye candy as shown below...

Image

It will be a combo Android and PC release ....and it will also feature Dietrich's Night Nurse and Toga nets..

I'm currently running this little SF clonefest just to see how everything lines up. IMHO, Dietrich makes the best nets for entertaining human play ,,,

It appears that Night Nurse 0.3 is about ~50 Elo weaker than current dev SF net and the Beth and Toga nets are ~180 Elo or so behind Night nurse so maybe around the level of Stockfish 7.

For the PC, all combinations will be available, for the Android the desire is to offer variety while recognising Android device limits.

So for the Android,
Bluefish will have the current Eval net.
Honey will have Night Nurse 0.3
Oki-Maguro will have the Toga Net.
and I will rename Weakfish to Harmon , restore some strength to the engine and that will carry the Harmon net.
One point that is now obvious (see below) , the easiest and perhaps the only way to introduce variety of play in SF clones is to pair each clone with nets that were derived from a different subset of games. Harmon will be the default engine have default setting is that the weakest possible, since I'm also creating a custom version of Droidfish for each of our grandchildren which will be included in a tablet that we are giving to each. This app will be named "Harmon" in this one time special release, and then the name revert back to "Black Diamond" in any follow-up releases. Only available via APK sideload method, as Google Play will not allow it due to new permission requirements in API 29.

Black Diamond. Crystal, Cfish and Corchess will all be included in the Android version as well with current-dev SF net.
Also adding WyldChess,I fixed Laser ( was not working ,sorry about that!) and keeping all the engines previously . Should be around 24 engines in total on one Android app.

Killing the run here, so this is the final snapshot

Nice package for Christmas !

DroidFish is very nice app for many reasons but it lacks engine tournament feature like Chess for Android. I even did not figured out how to make a game with 2 different engines. May be I missed something.

I will try your package after uninstalling original DroidFish.

Sorry for the delay, the Holidays got much busier than expected.

Very soon - some benc marks for the PC release . eval, bin is current standard SF net. ninu is Night Nurse 0.3 - which wilbe teh default for teh Droid.

Weakfish was replaced by Harmon and is no longer weak, but it can be made to play weak. She does come in with the fastest bench 117Mnps. ymmv.
