Will someone please refresh my memory!

Post by AdminX »

The year was 1993, and the Event was the 4th Harvard Cup.

GM Boris Gulko played BattleChess 4000 SVGA. My database has the result of this game as being a draw. Is this result correct? If so do you remember the details as to why? Otherwise I will assume the result an error and can correct it to show 0-1.

UPDATE: All records I could locate show that the result was indeed a draw. So any details as to why would be appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe clock issues for the engine operator.
If black lost on time on that final position, then it is draw.
I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

Comment from above:
BattleChess was one game which slipped away from Gulko after his usual methodical
buildup

White cannot win and Black ran out of time, hence draw.
The pgn in my attachment noted that black ran out of time.

It’s been a long time, but I’m pretty sure I watched this installment of the Harvard Cup in person. I don’t remember the Boris Gulko game in question, but take a look here:

Those were the days!
