A Baker's Dozen ...

Post by MikeB »

Black Diamond Chess for Android , now includes 13 open source engines built in

https://github.com/MichaelB7/Stockfish/ ... s/tag/2.02

With this release, we introduce new time controls in Milliseconds and a setting called Engine Sleep — used to put the engine to sleep for a a few seconds before making its move. A perfect combination to weaken the engine naturally for human play ( when using the very fast Milliseconds time controls ) while not having it move instantly. The new time controls settings and sleep functions work with every engine.

Hi Michael,

As discussed via email, I’ve been following this App with interest but don’t own any Android devices except for an Amazon Prime Stick running a cut down version of Android called Fire OS 5.2.7.6.

I’ve been trying to install various versions and always got a ‘Parse Error’ so just thought it wasn’t to be.

Today I tried to install your latest version v2.04 and imagine my surprise when it installed. OK I realised this App was meant for touch screen but I found an App called Mouse Toggle where I could get a round cursor on my TV and navigate around the menus.

I have now got the non NNUE engines running with speech etc, but I can’t get the NNUE engines working, I get a pop-up with
“Engine error nn-cb26f10b1fd9.nnue”.

Hopefully we can get this sorted, but I’m gobsmacked this App works on my Amazon Prime Stick.

Good Stuff ....

I suspect it is r/w permission issue, sent you an email on some things to try.

You might as well as grab the latest - two more engines added.

Thanks to Michael’s patience & perseverance all Engines are now working on the Fire Stick too.

I think it was something weird with the weights file, I’m sure he’ll update us here.

Cheers,

Thanks Al - it was a weights file, your suspicion was correct. Somehow it avoided erroring out on my side , but not on your side. All is well

Speaking of Fire Stick, who would would have thought that a Fire Stick could play better chess than any Human. With Stockfish NN clone running @ 650K nps , I'm sure this is true. A Plus for us Seniors - its on the BIG screen - in this case a 50". Those over 60 will know what I mean.

This yet to be released version is running with the Night Nurse 0.3 net. For human , this NNUE is a beast, even at millisecond time controls.
Yea .. I lost LOL TC 500 millisecond base plus 10 millisecond increment. Maybe seeing 500 to 1000 nodes per move with one thread on the FireStick. Enough to play nasty.
