Brainfish Project Ended by NNUE...

Last Cerebellum release before NNUE calculation starts
This is a merge of two lc0 Cerebellums (different nets) and the SF Cerebellum
BrainFish development stopped

CFish now can handle two books like Brainfish, it can be used as a replacement.
BrainFish always was mainly a vehicle for the Cerebellum library.
Therefore no new version of BrainFish will be released for now.
Most likely something new will be developed, replacing Brainfish.
The Cerebellum development will continue.

Installation
Brainfish needs a Cerebellum_Light_Poly.bin book to play as Brainfish.

Without this book, it plays identical to Stockfish.
The book can be registered in your UCI Engine setup for Brainfish in the parameter BookFile.
This parameter must contain the full path and name of Cerebellum_Light_Poly.bin.

For example if you unzip the Cerebellum_light_160731 folder on your drive d:, BookFile must contain:
d:\Cerebellum_light_160731\Cerebellum_Light_Poly.bin
It seems Stockfish NNUE has ended the "Brainfish Project" is this a good thing? I'm not 100% certain..
'Random Thoughts' :)

It is/was Stockfish with a book integrated into it. "Without this book, it plays identical to Stockfish." says it all, no?

You are oversimplifying it a bit, I'm afraid.
You could also say, "CFish is Stockfish in C, it plays identical to Stockfish" says it all, no?

In the beginning, Brainfish was made to offer the users the possibility to use the Cerebellum generated book for playing with Stockfish.
At this time, neither Stockfish nor CFish had a book option.
Later CFish used the book source code from Brainfish.
Also, the book was only embedded in the first version, in the same way the nnue net is now embedded in Stockfish.
That was not accepted by most users, even if this "book" was calculated solely by Stockfish, so I changed it.
Additionally, BrainFish had large pages and better numa support, which Stockfish had not at this time, and some speed improvements.

Now CFish is a full replacement for Brainfish, so it makes no sense to continue in the old way.

I'm mainly interested in the development of Cerebellum, so I will currently aim my focus at this.
It provides some insight in chess openings which are not possible otherways.
If I have enough time to develop a public version with distributed calculation, I will go that way.

With another subtle, yet measurable difference: it supported Large Pages when Stockfish did not.
