I have some updates that I will post soon.
This is my favorite, but unfortunately there is an alternate (obvious) winning move to capture the opposing queen. The best move is quite stunning

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Re: Frank's Red Hots
I did a little analysis of the first 100 entries in the original list.
I used a variety of engines, mostly H6 with Nav but then saw that SF12 was released, I ended up using that.
I made 3 categories.
1. The published move matched the single move that the engine found as best. (73)
2. If there were multiple engine moves that had the same mate, it doesn't matter if the published move was one of the moves or not. (13)
3. The published move did not match the single best move the engine found. (14)
So, with almost 4000 positions, there are going to be a lot of corrections!
Some of them are interesting. A lot of "appears we have a winner" then out of nowhere another move jumps to the lead. I had to set the MPV to 8 in a few cases to pick up the better move.
There were many that were continuations of another position. Some of those could be culled out.
Now that Dann has a preliminary list, I'll check my results against what he did.

Re: Frank's Red Hots
I have found (much to my astonishment, because it used to be weak tactically) that the latest Ethereal from master on github is a tiger at mate solving.
ShashChess 13.2 is also quite excellent.
I like to run a bunch of different programs, especially when the ones I tried before failed to solve.
I used (with full Syzygy 6 man files and a few gigs of the most significant 7 man files on ultra fast PCIE 4.0 gumstick ssd):
Stockfish (bleeding edge)
Bluefish (Bluefish XI-LP FD)
Houdini (6.x, I have the full 6 man Nalimov set on ultra fast PCIE 4.0 gumstick ssd which helps a lot, also leads to pretty mates)
Ethereal (from master at github)
ShashChess (13.2)
I ran everything multipv=1 (though Bluefish is actually running multi-pv under the covers to search wider)

Re: Frank's Red Hots
These are probably the closest to usable from Frank's Red Hots:
They fooled at least one engine for a while, some fooling several engines [*].
[*] Did not see a mate and the score was under ten pawns for whatever move they were considering for several seconds.
On the other hand, the engine did see a probably winning move with a score of at least +6 pawns.
I have a felling that examination of high scores from game contests is a very bad way to find test positions.
On the other hand, it was very enjoyable to watch various engines toil away on them.
