I am not so happy with latest update because Stockfish getting dumber with more selectivity.

When comparing two versions a few patches away, you'll have plenty of positions one version "gets" and the other doesn't. Minor seemingly unrelated changes can end up having a big impact on specific positions.

But chess strength is about finding good moves in general positions, not in one specific test position.

So there is nothing to worry about.

But the aim of Cfish is to track Stockfish.

Unless you've used one thread only, what your seeing in these two searches might just be "random noise".

And even with 1 thread finding the winning move or not can easily depend on the size of the hash table and the content of the hash table at the start of the search.

If Thomas was indeed using the same settings and a single thread, then apparently two minor changes to the evaluation function have made the difference for this position (when using Thomas' settings). There was no change to the search (apart from a very small change that changed the node count of a bench at depth 20 by 1 node).

To my surprise, Lc0 (network 384x30-t60-4300) fails, even with 100M nodes searched:

Gentleman, i repeated the test only doubling the hashsize from 1028 to 2048 MB:

CFish 060720-4core 2048 MB hash:
43/67+ 08:26 1.838.627.508 3.628.108 +1,66 Sc3-d5
48/72 30:52 6.285.947.698 3.393.385 +2,88 Sc3-d5 Lb7xd5

Cfish 110720-4core 2048 MB hash:
47/72 30:52 6.207.978.073 3.351.294 +1,61 Dd2-e3

Once again, the latest version of Stockfish didn´t make me happy.

Here are searches using 2048 MB hash and all other options at default. In particular, one thread. You should be able to exactly reproduce these.

Current Cfish-dev (bench 4366686):

So, yes, the current Cfish-dev requires an additional 46500430 nodes to find Nd5. But note that the difference in time for these searches was less than two seconds.
