Leela outplays Spike from what should be a drawn endgame

Post by AdminX »

While I was testing Leela on what most would call a weak GPU (MX150) versus a standard Desktop using various engines I came across the following position in a game between Spike 1.4 and Leela.

[d]4r1k1/6b1/p6p/1p1P4/4P3/2P5/PP4PP/4R2K b - - 0 31

Since Spike had Tablebases installed I figured the game would be a draw. Man was I wrong. Note: Up to this point the moves followed a correspondence game, Kraft,D (2395)-Boldysh,M (2348) ICCF email 2011 and Leela had not used any opening book.

Useless there is a bug it should have. It shows they were enabled in the engine log.

Enabled, but taking into account Spike's search depth - it will never reach 6-man position from move #31
Maybe from move #60 it can reach TB Hits

AdminX wrote: Wed Jul 01, 2020 10:46 pm While I was testing Leela on what most would call a weak GPU (MX150) versus a standard Desktop using various engines I came across the following position in a game between Spike 1.4 and Leela.

Well, for sure white can’t win this, but how does he even begin to find a way to draw? Looks gruesome. Blockaded, nothing can move anywhere.

Re: Leela outplays Spike from what should be a drawn endgame

Post by chysiddh14 »

is it possible for other programmer to develop chess engine which has stop being developed?
like spike 1.4 ,blackmamba ,protecter ,crafty ,gull n many more . which need updates becoz it is better than new 1.

instead of new1 can new programmer develop it like protector 2.0 ,spike 1.5 ,Gull 4 ?
