There are a zillion games that contain this position:
[d]rn1qkbnr/pp3ppp/2p1p1b1/3pP3/3P2P1/2N5/PPP2P1P/R1BQKBNR w KQkq -
I guess that it is so popular it must have a name (and probably it is simply between named openings).
So I was wondering, is there a recognized name for this position?
(He looks lonely in the database, since all of his neighbors have names and he does not.)
Is there a name for this opening?

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

If the first move is 1. g4 so it's the Grob opening ....

I think we have permuted to a Grob like position, since there are more games with this position than there are with 1.g4 by far (I have tens of thousands of them and the Grob is pretty rare).

Caro advance with g4.
No way is it a 1.g4 Grob, how do you think the bishop got to g6?!

All of the games in my Scid database of engine-engine matches that reach this position are classified as ECO B12x or B12w.
The opening is classified as Caro-Kann advance variation by Scid and also by my "Batsford Chess Openings" book.
