So I will just append this one here, more difficult I guess since this one requires double R sac for a mating attack on Kg1 using the light squares.

Black to play and win
[d]1k1r2r1/pppbqN2/1n1b1n1p/4p3/1P5P/PB1PP3/1BQN1PP1/2R2RK1 b - - 0 21

bm Nfd5!! (setting up a trap) if white plays Nxd8 then ... Qxh4! with a mating attack (threat Rxg2+)
I am not sure if there are other alternate mating lines than the text move.
This time a little more smp variance of new Crystal. Best trial 1", second best 6", worst 27"

Here's second best, again with 24 threads of 12x3GHz, 32G hash

LC0 sees the right move instantly but it gets to only +1.25 in one minute. +1.54 after 10 minutes.

This is SF-Lc0 game. Haven't seen SF being demolished so quickly and so brutally like this before.
This looks more difficult than most of Nolot test positions.
White is up by two rooks but mate is unavoidable.

Astonishing beauty, in a sea of foamy questions, the very definition of elegance, yet...
Someone will say, "Imperfection, brutal in-congruence, fatal flawed unintelligence.

More of this, for my soul, because it craves rare beauty like this
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

So I will just append this one here, more difficult I guess since this one requires double R sac for a mating attack on Kg1 using the light squares.

Black to play and win

bm Nfd5!! (setting up a trap) if white plays Nxd8 then ... Qxh4! with a mating attack (threat Rxg2+)
I am not sure if there are other alternate mating lines than the text move.

Somehow this one is quite easy for Minic + nettling nemesis

Code: Select all

info depth 21 score cp 255 time 3846 nodes 2364114 nps 614694 seldepth 36 pv c7h2 g1h2 d8h4 h2g1 h7g5 c3b4 f8e8 b1b2 h6g6 b4d6 g6d6 a5a6 b7a6 d1c2 d6g6 g2g3 g5f3 e2f3 g4f3 b6b7 a8b8 c2c6 g6c6 tbhits 0 hashfull 166
Best move is stable after that but score is increasing

It seems a backhanded compliment in some way (but so are many of the Beowulf compliments "he was not the sort of man who would stab you in the back at the first opportunity" when the idea transferred was really "he was trustworthy")

And yet, there is something excellent here.

We sometimes use the term "less is more" and it can be true with pruning.

We want to throw away the stupid moves. But we need to be really sure that they are stupid.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.
