Hard to understand for engines study

Post by kiroje »

After an 10+ years hiatus from OTB chess I finally got back and started to look in my stowed away chess books.

I fell over this one from Schachstudien der Weltmeister - Karpow/Gik

This is W. Smyslow 1976
[pgn][Event ""]
[Site ""]
[Date ""]
[Round ""]
[White ""]
[Black ""]
[Result ""]
[FEN "2k5/1p6/p7/P1PP1K2/3b4/2p5/8/4B3 w - - 0 1"]
[Setup "1"]

1. c6 c2 2. Bd2 Bb2 3. d6 bxc6 4. Ke6 c1=B 5. d7+ Kc7 6. d8=Q+ Kxd8 7. Kd6 c5 8.
Kxc5 Kc7 9. Be1 $10 [/pgn]

This one seems to be really hard for engines to understand - probably because of the same colored bishops for black. Is there and engine that understands its draw ?
BTW Syzygy says 9.Be1 is = so it seems to be correct.

After 3...Kxd5 in your line, it's -#37 according to Losomosovs.

Showing once again humans suck at chess
c6 is not an error, black is winning in all lines. The study is cooked because of 1.c6 c2?. This leads to a draw. 1.c6 bxc6! wins and is easy for the computer to see, not so much for humans.
