Hi Mike is there a binary for 25.4? Last binary I saw posted was 25.3.

Just curious are the nodes in Crafty counted the same way as they were in Deep Blue?
I am no expert, but I was reading this article that explains nps..
https://www.chessprogramming.org/Nodes_per_Second
" But whereas comparing different version of the same program is fine, comparisons between different engines are more difficult, since programmers use different schemes of counting nodes. The reciprocal of NPS is time per node, which translates to processor cycles per node."

The source is at Mike's GitHub
https://github.com/MichaelB7/Crafty
It is compiling with gcc.

Very true. It is about 3x+ of my 12 Core MAC Pro, where as Stockfish is about 4x. Crafty was designed for real cores and does not do well with virtual cores Stockfish handles virtual cores quite well. But virtual cores are never as good as the physical cores regardless.

I noticed that Crafty 25.3 was searching 1,000,000 NPS faster than my engine which is a fast searcher too.
I think Crafty is a very well optimized program.

Does the Elo parameter work properly ? I'm asking this question because I compiled Crafty 25.4y and set the elo to 1400 and still can't win. In fact, it does not seem to care about what Elo I set.
Crafty 25.3 takes into account this weak 1400 rating.

About twice as many nodes per second as my 20 core (40 thread) run! Did you run autotune?
Code: Select all
Black(1): help autotune
The autotune command can be used to configure various SMP search parameters
for your specific hardware and target time limit. Note that before you run
this command, you MUST set the max number of threads you want to use (most
likely the number of physical processor cores on your machine.) Crafty
actually runs a parallel search over a small set of positions repeatedly, and
to properly tune things, it needs to use the max configuration you will ever
want to use. If you forget, autotune will refuse to run. The command is:
autotune [time] [accuracy]
