Xubuntu 18.04 64 bits and latest linux version december 10th.
Menu file, new. I click e2-e4 and the pawn disappears. Banksia seems frozen. I must wait at least one minute in order to have hand again.

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the problem on my Xubuntu (similar to yours, 18.04 64bit -> BSG runs smoothly). Can you install Qt library (BSG built by Qt) as the following command line and try again? Thanks

Sorry, right now I can't help since I can't reproduce the problem and I don't have much working experience with Linux. Perhaps someone can help?

I noted the problem anyway and will come back when having new ideas/understanding.

In the next release, I will add a new function to turn on/off move's animation thus you may try again (I doubt the animation may cause that problem).

Bug report:

While trying to reproduce a bug in an engine (Raven 0.60) which worked, I also found a bug in current Banksia.
In the two games below, Banksia did not detect a three time repetition draw, probably because
the moves by both players came in too fast at the end? (race condition?)

(You have to click on the small grey dots to get the game selection in the forums pgn viewer
click on c8 shows the full pgn info for copy/paste for each game)

In game 1 move 69/71/73 Black Kh6 leads to a three time rep
In game 2 move 97/99/101 Black Qf6+ leads to a three time rep

Thanks a lot for the report and for the interesting issue!

Game 1 is not a bug since those positions look the same but not their sides in turn: the position started after move 69. Qxf5+ (side to move is Black) and ended at 73. ... Kh6 (side to move is White).

However, game 2 is really a bug of BSG (I count a position as a 3 fold repetition when the repetition-counter >= 3. It turns out it requires 4 times since it ignored the start position).

The bug is fixed for the next release.

Thanks a lot for the report and for the interesting issue!

Game 1 is not a bug since those positions look the same but not their sides in turn: the position started after move 69. Qxf5+ (side to move is Black) and ended at 73. ... Kh6 (side to move is White).

However, game 2 is really a bug of BSG (I count a position as a 3 fold repetition when the repetition-counter >= 3. It turns out it requires 4 times since it ignored the start position).

The bug is fixed for the next release.

Not that it matters much, but if you look again, game 1 has the same bug,
after 69...Kh6, 71...Kh6, 73...Kh6 the position is identical and it is always the same side to move.

Seems to me that banksia it does not use the opening book that is active. It is open the opening tree but the engine plays the move which it thinks that is better. Another problem that i have is when setup a level in fixed nodes per move the engine going beyond this limit. And last i cant open pgn files. Any thoughts?
