Due to the recent success of Crafty 25.3 in my soon to be released World Championship Engines(Chess OK) Swiss Champs.. I am looking for a even Deeper Crafty than the 25.3 Compile which is around 25-27 plies in depth (not too bad)...The Deep Crafty Project Compile should be from 35-40 plies in depth with the result that "Deep Crafty" may indeed be The strongest chess engine in the Universe...I would appreciate the help and assistance of the original engine author and all Crafty Enthusiasts Worldwide in this important and worthwhile endeavor...with my main question How do we get the additional depth needed to make The Deep Crafty Project Compile a reality? What does "The Deep Crafty Project Compile should be from 35-40 plies in depth" even mean?

You can experiment with Crafty's lmr and lmp commands to alter the engine's search---making it narrower and deeper, for example. But without careful testing, such deeper searching might actually result in weaker play, i.e., too much pruning.

Or, if you just want higher depth without weakening it, add a number to the depth before it's displayed in the GUI

Unfortunately, this also makes Komodo play like crap (I have played with this setting, default Reduction is best, just one more or one less is worse, they knew what they were doing.)

So, instead, add 15 to Depth:

Not only does this Komodo play the same moves as regular Komodo, it reaches Depth 40 in almost a minute!

So supersharp77 can modify Crafty's Depth and add 25, or even 35 to it! Imagine how deep will it be!!

Want a higher depth in the Crafty exe without weaking the overall engine strength..Right Now Crafty 25.3 is competitive in reguard to search depth but still lags behind engines such as Stockfish, SugaR, Enman, Brainfish, etc...with additional search depth(5-10) Crafty should be back at the top of the heap...Crafty's Positional play is stellar and in tactical play Crafty is improved...Need just a little more..Thats it..

Not only does this Komodo play the same moves as regular Komodo, it reaches Depth 40 in almost a minute!

So supersharp77 can modify Crafty's Depth and add 25, or even 35 to it! Imagine how deep will it be!!

The trick here is that it's trivially easy to change to code so that the engine looks deeper or shows a higher depth, but it will not make it stronger.

If you want to make it stronger, then you improve the code, and after improving the code, it's possible Crafty plays better chess despite reaching less depth. So you don't really want Crafty to reach a higher depth, you want to increase its search or evaluation's quality, and then nobody will care about what Depth it reaches, but about its move selection.
