Is there something special about CM 9000? The latest version is the Grandmaster Edition, unless they continue to use the same engine and just added bells and whistles, I think Naka should play the latest version.

CM 9000 is already too strong for Nakamura in latest hardware, that's why you'd want to use a handicap so the human starts with an advantage. But then you want the strongest engine in the fastest hardware, and just adjust the handicap accordingly.

CM 9000 on relatively old hardware. Let say 10 year old laptop is more than feasible.

But what would be the point of that? Why ChessMaster anyway? If you're going to bring back old hardware and software to hold a match, then you can use some modern engine instead. Every day, engine developers all over the world improve their engines, and make them reach CM 9000 level, but because they did it too late they don't get much attention, so I'd rather give them the spotlight so that their efforts don't go to waste, and can play Nakamura on latest hardware on a normal game.

Otherwise, the point would be showing that the latest improvements of ChessMaster allow it to give a big handicap to the human and still win. Like, imagine CM GM Edition giving Naka the same handicap Komodo is giving to weaker players and still beating him, that'd be impressive!
