Was going to release a new SF derivative called Honey around Mother's day - I had put out a call for compiles ..but never released it. But once again it's near release. An new feature is that it will also do Scoring % output, similar to Lc0 ( A score 100 is a win, 50 is draws and a score of zero is a loss. Of course , I had not time to do this in a scientific and statistical manner, but after looking at Leela code and making some changes relevant to Honey , I think it looks kind of interesting. Of course, a user will always be able to use the centipawn evaluation if that what they prefer.

So below are a few games with the new scoring % evaluation output after spending all morning fine tuning the process (retirement is great).

Here's the first game , Honey is white and is reporting the score in scoring %, current-dev SF is black and is reporting the score in it's standard 'centipawn mode. No book was used for either side. 23 threads for both sides, mo pondering , 12 core Mac Pro. The second game is with colors reverse and you can how SF returned the favor, as well how Honey's reported its diminishing hopes throughout the game.

The third game I extended the the control to 3 min and 3 seconds, hoping to get a drawn game, which happened. And finally, the last game was give Honey a shot at the white pieces versus Stockfish. That ended in draw as well.

Of course, a user will always be able to use the centipawn evaluation if that what they prefer.
What would be very nice (but probably difficult to do) is separate winning and drawing %.

Unfortunately that's not possible for Honey at the current moment ( lack of data) , but I could see Lc0 actually doing that in the future and if they do that , someone could probably reverse engineer their coding that turns it into centipawn scoring- but it would be just a rough estimate - even the lc0 output today is misleading , they are calling it winning % - but it's really just the scoring % (maybe they mean scoring - but it can be misleading by calling it winning). A winning rate of say 55% , is a scoring rate of at least 65% when you factor in the draws that will occur and none of the stand opening lines that engines play start off with a scoring rate of 65% - but we do have many at ~ 55% - which might be 40% winning, 30% drawing and 30% losing and At some point ,when the scoring % does get near 70% , at that point it's really either win or draw - so in those cases you do have it, the winning side will not lose that game - of course any contrived mate positions will break that rule - where one side is behind in material tremendously , but it has that stunning move that mate-in-6 - I Have encountered contrived positions that are rated as 0% chance of win based on material , where the weaker side actually does win - but again, I have only seen these types of positions which are actually chess puzzles and not real chess positions which will occur in game between two competent players - engine or human.

I now remember that TCEC does show W/D %. I don't know if they say anything about how they calculate it.

Anyone know?

It makes sense that somebody would have it - since they have the hard data from the training.

Examples:

1.69 [34.0% W | 66.1% D]
1.40 [29.0% W | 71.0% D]
0.56 [16.0% W | 84.0% D]
0.36 [10.3% W | 89.7% D]

That's not what we really want.
