Will PCI express 4 do anything for chess engines?

It is my understanding that the only card slightly pinched by the pcie 3.0 spec is the 2080 TI. "If" NVidia makes a new card with the 4.0 spec, their flagship will get a small boost.

I doubt it will make a significant impact for chess.

Latency of flash reads are the bottleneck (iops at queue depth 1) not bandwidth over the bus. Won't make any difference with current flash speeds.

PCI Express 4 affects everything that uses that interface.
The new AMD 7nm stuff is specifically designed to support it.
