Try it with Stockfish. I am of the impression that SF would never solve this problem, that Sting solves in 2 seconds.

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Testing it out right now with Stockfish at 100 contempt.
No tablebase.
It's at a billion nodes right now and still not finding it.
1.5 billion, still nil.
Maybe ironically, but it does suggest a5-a6 at depth 1/1...
Edit2: Still hasn't found it after 3 billion nodes.
Edit3: 6.1 billion nodes later and it still can't see it.
Edit4: 10.1 billion nodes, still nothing.

11258-48x5-se on lc0 1cpu (no gpu), finds the first move in less than a second.

Fat Titz by Stockfish, the engine with the bodaciously big net. Remember: size matters. If you want to learn more about this engine just google for "Fat Titz".

Does it show a mate in 20 score, or a draw?

Both of these plans are draws:
Code: Select all
Kg4 h5+ Kxh5
a6 h5 a7 h4 a8=Q h3 Qb7
It is the pile of under-promotions that builds a winning plan.

Where can one find the source repo for sting?
Fat Titz by Stockfish, the engine with the bodaciously big net. Remember: size matters. If you want to learn more about this engine just google for "Fat Titz".

I believe this is the latest:

I just checked and the link is still active.
