LC0 using 4 x 2080 Ti GPU's on Chess.com tourney?

I just read that LC0 is using 4 x 2080 Ti GPU cards in their computer tournament. Has scaling for LC0 reached the level where it can use 4 x GPU's?? I thought it was still not sure if even 2 cards could get much of an advantage. Is there any data of improvement in adding 1 card vs. 2 card vs. 4 card?

Well, all info is there in the games, if one isn't too lazy to look at them.

The speeds are pretty low for 4 x 2080 Ti, only some 2.5 times higher than my single 2070. And the effective speed-up to 4 GPUs is probably not that good, so even this factor of 2.5 in NPS is lower strength-wise.

They moved from a rented server to their own with 4 GPUs and 2 CPUs.
nps turned out to be very low (<10knps), and search was CPU-bound, and with adding more threads it became even slower.
It's not clear why it was so, but most probably it was poor mutex performance (either because of dual-CPU, although pinning process to one CPU didn't help, or maybe kernel version is too old (from year 2012?)).

Jesse from CCCC team helped a lot by running various tests for us, and after 2 days we came up with a workaround which brought nps somehow higher.
Workaround was to implement a new "demux" backend, which splits one batch to several GPUs (opposite from what "multiplexing" does).

So, currently Lc0 runs at CCCC with just 2 CPU threads and 4 GPUs.

Hopefully by the next stage we'll manage to fix that.

There a few system level tweaks made between game 7 and game 73 which increased average nps by 15-20kn/s, using actual values from cutechess debug files and from actua games. A more generic data point, from the opening position, searching "go nodes 1000000" speeds increased from 66kn/s to 96kn/s.

Performance between machines varies a lot. If there are tests to run on 1, 2, 3 and 4 gpu's I'd be happy to run them.

And even lower for a single 2080 Ti. Not much gain here at all. I will stay with one 2080 Ti for my Threadripper build.
