Re: Drawkiller Openings Project
Its a very nice book in my opinion
Re: Drawkiller Openings Project
And mention, that especially in the TCEC Superfinals, a lot of openings are used, which no engine would ever play on its own... so, there is no principal difference to Drawkiller-moves, which no engine would play on its own... only some humans play TCEC openings. But Drawkiller was not made for humans, but for engines.pohl4711 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 4:15 amOf course, nobody would play those moves in a game of chess. But the point is, that all chessengines and all chessGUIs can handle Drawkiller and the moves. Because they are classical chess moves (even no engine would play them on its own). And that is a huge advantage compared to any chess-variant, like Chess960 etc., which are having differences in rules or starting positions (compared to classical chess).
The primary goal of Drawkiller is, to prevent computerchess from dying the death-by-draw in the future. And for that, it is very important, that each engine and each GUI on the planet can handle Drawkiller...

Re: Drawkiller Openings Project
Drawkiller was used on chess.com's ccc (computer-chess-championship) as a bonus event. I suppose it can be used in tcec as a fun bonus event as well, as long as the concept is understood.
Re: Drawkiller Openings Project
I'm comparing Drawkiller to a similar suite (that doesn't exist) that uses FENs as starting positions, regardless of if those positions can be reached from the opening position. Are there GUIs or engines that are known for not accepting FENs as starting positions? Otherwise, it'd be an improvement.pohl4711 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 4:15 amOf course, nobody would play those moves in a game of chess. That is, the primary goal of Drawkiller could be achieved faster if the FENs I'm talking about (coming from, say, asymmetrical shuffle chess?) were researched, optimizing them for being the "least likely to draw".
Here's some likely suspects:
(0% draw rate in corr chess several years ago, but with white and black winning similar amount of games)
