CT800 for the macOS

Post by MikeB »

CT800 © Rasmus Althoff, 2016–2018, Rasmus' website ,
The CT800, rated at about 2100 Elo, is a serious opponent for any amateur chess player up to club level.
and it is also a "how to build your own dedicated chess computer" website.

A very fun engine to play against...set CPU speed % to 1, set CPU speed knps to 1 , set time control 1 10,set time odds 100 to 1 and pretend your Bobby Fischer...It also seems to have a built in opening book . 🤔

Note : No one in their right mind would think Bobby Fischer played the game below.

I'm happy that you like the engine! :D Yes, it does have an internal book which is optimised for variety, not strength. The GUI can disable it via the standard UCI command for "ownbook". With the speed, I think just going for 1 kNPS would have the same effect since 1% on any even remotely recent PC will already be around 20 kNPS. You can throttle both ways, and the engine will dynamically apply whatever is the lower limit. King safety is a major structural weakness of the engine, I have to admit. Nice game!
