Daydreamer 2.0?

I see that CCRL has 2 versions of Daydreamer 2.0:

Code: Select all

Daydreamer 2.0 64-bit 2903 +22 -21 56.6% -51.7 745
Daydreamer 2.0.0-pre2 64-bit 2886 +27 -27 52.0% -11.8 440
I've searched everywhere for Daydreamer 2.0 (which looks to be the final version of the 2.00-pre2) and found nothing. In the official git repo of the engine there's only 2.00-pre2: https://github.com/AaronBecker/daydreamer/releases

Is the other version private or was it a custom compile and never officially released?

I'm thinking that it's the pre1 version. If it were a private version they tested, the engine name would be displayed in black in the rating list, like Lemming 0.34 64-bit is.

Hi Graham! No, I never finished 2.0. I got bogged down with some issues around supporting multiple cpus (I think the best approach is probably just to leave 2.0 as a single-threaded application and tackle parallel search in a separate release), and then real life got in the way, as it tends to do.

I did get some reports of faulty time management under Windows, which is the main thing I'd like to address before a proper 2.0 release. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the problem is and it's hard to reproduce because I don't have a Windows PC myself. I'm thinking about getting a copy of Windows just to be able to test properly. I'll keep you updated!

Best,
Aaron
