Linux engines: rating list

Post by Jesse Gersenson »

Am looking for a rating list of the top engines for Linux. i.e. engines with native Linux binaries. Anything like that exist?

Lucas (Demolito/DiscoCheck) once did an opensource linux rating list but not only for top programs.
A search will find it, but this was several years ago.

There was another one, who ran a linux rating list, but I don't remember his name,
but this also was long ago meanwhile.
(I don't even remember, if it was posted in talkchess or in the WB forum)

This is my elo rating list for all the native linux engines that I currently use in Xboard.
I have not updated to Stockfish 9 yet. Stockfish 8 still beats all my other engines.
The missing numbers are of the Windows only engines. e.g. Fire 7.1 is currently at number 2.

Code: Select all

Program Elo + - Games Score Av.Op. Draw

You can update GreKo to version 2018.07. It is a bit (100-150 Elo points) stronger than 2016.

I only update my engines at the start of each year, and then only if the new version is significantly better on my computers than the existing version.
I was planning to update GreKo for next year's engine matches.
I have been using GreKo since 2004.

If anyone was wondering, in my early days of using linux and Xboard I used to put an "X" at the end of an engine name to denote a native linux version. I stopped doing that a long time ago.
That is the reason some old engines in my previous post were named that way.
I have recently stopped playing engine-engine matches for this year due to other commitments. I now have exactly 33000 games in my Scid database, played on my computers, accumulated over the last 20 years.

Thank you, very interesting table! I can't remember when GreKo started to build and run under Linux. Also I like to see ratings of earlier versions, because CCRL tests only since version 5.0 or later.
