Not really that big, comp games are from top 10 games 10min+6sec from http://www.fastgm.de/downloads.html
and human games are from twic jan 1, 2018 to July 30, 2018 pgn issues from http://theweekinchess.com/twic
Human games are further filtered to only include a rating of 2400 or more for each player in every game.

Only one 7-men position is counted per game if present. Types KRPPvKRp and KRpvKRPP are just considered as KRPPvKRp under type column.
If a game has KRPPvKRP and another game has KRpvKRPP then the count for KRPPvKRP will be 2. The same is applied for other types.
Reading the table, KRPPvKRP has comp count of 1168 pos with an equivalent 15.24% for comp alone while it has a human equivalent of 553 counts with 33.01% for human alone.

Data is sorted on comp column in descending order.

Comp games: 13500 (top10-10min.pgn)
Human games: 12363 (twic-2400-5000-jan-jul-2018.pgn)

There are more comp than human pos because the comp games are not adjudicated.

The way rook + 2 pawns vs rook + pawn dominates the statistics is very interesting.
Good stuff - when humans don’t play it , it appears that the position is so one sided that there is no need for the a huge 7 man data base file - the exception is that when you have pawns , you need to get all the promotion possibilities - but clearly this Tells you which ones we should be getting first. Not getting them all myself , but I do two extra sata slots in my 2010 Mac Pro where two reasonably priced 8 tb HD’s will fit in nicely. 16 tb should fit most of the important ones. And now that I have fiber with 300 mps service , 16 TBs will take less than two weeks .

I think that the full 7 man syzygy set will be about 20 TB.

I believe the 20 TB number is correct, but we do have a lot of positions that only the purist would insist upon having e.g.,KNNPPPvK. In my case , I had two empty sata connectors, did not want to go to the external HD route and found that 8GB drives were much more cost effective than the 12 TB or 10 TB drives. I believe OP was thinking like me and will handpick the TB's he will have so that they will fit in some configuration that is less than 20TB. At least that is my intent anyway and it is how I interpreted the reason for one making the original post in the first place.

Yeah, something like a 10T or 12T drive and just fit the most common ones on it. I don't think even 12T are that expensive, given that I have a machine with a bunch of 4T in it that could all be replaced by a single one of those. 20T drives are a bit further out still, but likely with HAMR more than 12T is surely coming.

You can also skip the rtz tables, which will cut the total storage by 1/3rd or so.
