Hi Andrew, I think you misread the score for the side with the supposed advantage , the game is not clearly won for black - with white's move , the game is now drawn.

Okay, in that case McBrain is still wrong with a -1200+ eval, even though it happened upon the "correct" move. Am I missing something more here?

Pity neither Chiron 4 nor Shredder13 do so anymore.
(Broke off with both after 5 minutes at 24 threads, no tbs used, )

Master Om, who has joined this forum since, should be find this thread amusing.
Critter 1.4a also implemented pawn blockage detection back in January of 2012:

Details about Critter 1.4a.
Critter 1.4a - unofficial, unsupported, and only 64bit Sse4 build:

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?w4x1kctds4oa9og

- tweaked SMP implementation
- sligthly decreased Queen value
- time management: try avoiding blunders in sudden death games when in time trouble
- time management: fixed losing on time whith "ponder on" games on opponent's instant reply
- improved pawn blockage detection (3B4/1r2p3/r2p1p2/bkp1P1p1/1p1P1PPp/p1P4P/PP1K4/3B4 w - - 0 1)

No guarantees about being equal/stronger than plain 1.4
The FEN is very similar to the OP of this thread and with the same idea of Ba4+, b3+, c4+, d5+, e6+ and f5.

Regards from Spain.
