older version of Brainfish

Post by Kohflote »

Dear all,

For the past few days, I am unable to download any older versions of Brainfish. The error is:

This site can’t be reached
The webpage at http://www.zipproth.de/Brainfish/BrainFish_180613.zip might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE

Anyone can help, please?

Thank you & regards,
Koh, Kah Huat

I don't think there ever was an 180613 version. There is an 180614 version, which is still downloadable:

http://www.zipproth.de/Brainfish/BrainFish_180614.zip
http://www.zipproth.de/Brainfish/BrainF ... source.zip

I think the prior version to that was 180607. I check the site a couple of times a day, so I am pretty sure I have all the versions.

I'm confused :

http://talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.p ... 95#p766172

The SPCC testing by Mr Stefan Pohl stated is Brainfish 180613 version.

I have to admit, I am confused. I can download versions from the Brainfish site dating back to January 6, but not this particular version. Not sure why this particular version is excluded. Maybe it was retreated for some reason?

Brainfish is usually compiled the same day of the corresponding SF commit, but not always.

There were no SF commits between June 13 and June 20. So BF 180614 corresponds to this commit:

Code: Select all

Author: DU-jdto
Date: Wed Jun 13 21:52:53 2018 +0200
Timestamp: 1528919573

Remove lmrDepth restriction on quiet see pruning

And tweak the threshold value. With this threshold and the current piece
values, this permits see pruning on quiets to be done up to an lmrDepth
of 9 (beyond that the threshold is below -QueenValueMg and see_ge will
pass unconditionally).

STC:
LLR: 2.96 (-2.94,2.94) [-3.00,1.00]
Total: 110316 W: 24612 L: 24667 D: 61037
http://tests.stockfishchess.org/tests/view/5b20aa760ebc5902ab9c9c1d

LTC:
LLR: 2.95 (-2.94,2.94) [-3.00,1.00]
Total: 17352 W: 2968 L: 2842 D: 11542
http://tests.stockfishchess.org/tests/view/5b20cf1e0ebc5902ab9c9fb6

Closes https://github.com/official-stockfish/Stockfish/pull/1651

Bench: 5069074
as confirmed by the bench.

It appears that the BF build was done the next day and S. Pohl retroactively renamed it (I do the same with my own SF execs).

I'm sorry but I must take an exception to mangling English this way. "Retreat" in this context sounds like Denglish. The proper word here is "withdrawn". You can retreat yourself but not someone or something else:
the troops retreated slowly to the second line of defense
the troops were withdrawn to the second line of defense
See the difference?

I suppose our friends across the pond at CCW are responsible for this; that should be corrected.

Bugger off with the grammar lessons, you pedantic nerd. I was merely using the terminology used by others.
