Does sf have any big and legitimate excuses that something went wrong?
8 games played between all engines.

Head to head - (+1=7-0) in favour of Stockfish
Against Houdini - Stockfish (+0=8-0), Komodo (+1=7-1)
Against Fire - Stockfish (+3=5-0), Komodo (+2=6-0)
Against Andscacs - Stockfish (+3=5-0), Komodo (+3=5-0)
Against Ginkgo - Stockfish (+3=5-0), Komodo (+4=4-0)
Against Jonny - Stockfish (+3=5-0), Komodo (+6=2-0)

Stockfish comfortably makes the superfinal without losing. Now it has increase default contempt (from 12 to 21, although it's still dynamic contempt). That means the version that plays in the premier division in season 13 should be able to beat the weaker engines more easily and get more points.

Stockfish looks very comfortable in the superfinal already (+4=16-1).

After the results of the last 2 TCEC finals I don't think we have to worry about the death of computer chess by draws.

Of course if you give chess programs bad opening like 1.g4 then black has good chances to win.

The reason for not having more draws is the opening choice.

Give chess engines to use their book and you are going to see more draws.
