What is your problem?
Why do you need to do such comments/attacks?

Most likely several of us are curious to see results with a configuration using a 1080Ti, if you are not interested, just dont read & reply and let the others that are interested discuss it.

Thanks, Lion.
Just ignore him.
He has good knowledge, but I've never seen him use it in a positive way.
He takes great pleasure in attacking and belittling others . Criticism and Sarcasm are his forte.
I've never seen him helping others, unlike people like Kai Laskos, Albert Silver and Stephen Pohl, who are knowledgeable AND helpful.
I'll post more Games later.

Looking forward to see more games.

I am currently using LCO on my 1060 in Fritz GUI but only go up to about 1 kn/s

But as I am clueless on GPU, when I read CUDA 9.2, cuDNN 7.14.... without talking about changing parameter of LCO.... I dont even know where/how to do that.

That been said, I enjoy watching LCO making progress & looking @ others like you that know how to parameter these things to increase speed and see how quickly LCO is making progress.
I hope one day they build a compile similar to other UCI engines in which it is easy to install/modify parameters.

Anyhow, looking forward to more games :wink:

Laskos wrote: Tue May 22, 2018 11:31 pm Total played 2 games, both won by Lc0, side and reversed from standard opening position. It took 5-6 hours of this evening and night to complete them. The games are here:

https://lichess.org/IBFHR8op
https://lichess.org/9Rm9ZUeP
BTW, if you dislike the behaviour of LC0 to just report min-depth as depth in the output, which is saved to pgn,
then you can correct it by using inbetween. (server2client part, the others according to your installation/taste)

It seems I can run the newer lc0 versions too now (cuda 9.2), only the first game always stalls in cc-cli, after that it runs smoothly.

e.g.

Code: Select all

[InBetween]
Debug := 3
Log := LC0_329.log
CommandLine := lc0.exe -w ID329

[Client2Server]
; Set transalation of commands from the client here
; format word := translation

[Server2Client]
; Set transalation of commands from the server here
; format word := translation
info depth 1 seldepth := info depth
info depth 2 seldepth := info depth
info depth 3 seldepth := info depth
Thanks for the tip, I will use it if needed.
I had a LTC game (1 hour + 1 minute increment) between Lc0 NN329 and SF dev 4 cores, SF won, but only after a tactical blunder at move 37 by Lc0, in late midgame. Up to that point, Lc0 held pretty well, and maybe even had a constant smallish advantage. The game is here:
https://lichess.org/mF5YXG25
Thinking that Lc0 Achilles' heel is tactics, and fiddling with CPUCT anf FPUR settings, I managed to make Lc0 NN329 much stronger tactically, for example in WAC200 revised by Albert EPD suite the scores at 10s/position were:

Lc0 default: 100/200
Lc0 CLOP: 126/200 (used in these games)
Lc0 with my settings: 145/200

But when playing games at 1s/move, Lc0 with my settings scored significantly worse than Lc0 CLOP against Houdini 1.5a. Better tactics on cleaned WAC (and cleaned ECM) seems to not help, although most of the lost games are lost to tactics. I am a bit puzzled, maybe these settings should be adapted to time control used. Maybe there are different kinds of tactics or maybe not using history planes in an EPD test-suite distorts tactical results on those suites, anyway, I haven't managed to improve the overall performance of Lc0 at short TC (I mean by fiddling with engine's settings).

How exactly do you play on lichess ? Is there a computer chess room where Engine users can challenge each other ?
Could you explain a bit ?

I continued as long as I did, because lc0 kept giving over-optimistic Scores, while Stockfish kept giving 0.00.
Anyway, lc0 had no problem getting the Draw even with Black and didn't even break a sweat, so to speak.
No blunders, whatsoever, at this TC.
I had overclocked my 1080 Ti using the ASUS GPU Tweak II and was getting 28k Speeds at times.
More later.

Laskos wrote: Thu May 24, 2018 1:34 pm I had a LTC game (1 hour + 1 minute increment) between Lc0 NN329 and SF dev 4 cores, SF won, but only after a tactical blunder at move 37 by Lc0, in late midgame. Up to that point, Lc0 held pretty well, and maybe even had a constant smallish advantage. The game is here:

How exactly do you play on lichess ? Is there a computer chess room where Engine users can challenge each other ?
Could you explain a bit ?
No, I am just posting the games there, as here the PGN tag doesn't work yet.

It certainly is !
It was around 18k.
Speed keeps fluctuating, and seems to depend on the phase of the game and even varies from game to game !
Right now, a game is going on between lc0 and Komodo 11.2.2 ; so far, it looks drawish.
I will post it later, using the method Mr Laskos described.
